We knew they could do it!
Kelsey Serwa and Marielle Thompson are both ex teammates of mine who put it all on the line at the Sochi Olympic Ski Cross.
They were both Olympic medal hopefuls, even with Kelsey having some knee issues leading up to the games. I knew Kels could perform regardless. Her and I were both injured before the 2011 World Championships (I had 2 cms bone on bone on my tibial plateau and a completely torn ACL; while Kelsey had injured her back and ribs a couple days earlier), but with skipping a training day on the course to replace it with icing and physio, we ended up taking home the gold and silver together. So, this Olympic silver wasn't her first time being less than 100% and stepping on the podium.
Marielle (also a born and raised Whistler girl), has prooved to all of us on the World Cup circuit that she had more than enough potential to step on the top of the podium.
What a race, and what a course.
Nice work girls! Enjoy every moment of this dream come true.
